Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s mother, Charan Kaur, expressed deep sorrow and anger over the firing by the Lawrence gang at her son’s statue established in Dabwali, Haryana. In an Instagram post, she wrote, "This attack is not just on our son’s memory, but a wound to our soul. The statue that was shot at is not just stone it is a symbol of people’s love and respect for Sidhu.
She added, “These people are not just disrespecting Sidhu’s death, but are now trying to erase his memories too. My son was the voice of people's rights. Even though he is no longer among us, there is still an effort to silence him. But he cannot be erased. He was a wave that will live on forever. Our silence is not our defeat. One day, everyone will be punished for their actions. This attack feels like an injury to our soul.”
Last year, the statue of Sidhu Moosewala was installed in Sawantkhera village of Dabwali by Digvijay Chautala, the state president of Jannayak Janta Party. Three days ago, unknown attackers fired at the statue during the night, damaging it and causing panic. Chautala reportedly received a video from a foreign number showing the firing at the statue. He then lodged a police complaint. The incident has sparked deep outrage among Moosewala’s fans.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang took responsibility for the firing at Sidhu Moosewala’s statue. In a social media post, they warned the people who had installed the statue, saying those trying to label Moosewala as a martyr and misleading the public should stop, or face consequences.
Goldy Dhillon and Arzu Bishnoi, while taking responsibility for the firing, wrote that Digvijay Chautala and Gagan Kokri were attempting to give Moosewala a martyr’s status by installing the statue and misleading the public. They warned that statues should be of Bhagat Singh or a martyr from the armed forces, not of Sidhu Moosewala.
